High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

First up was a heating system set to 64. Second was burned sliders, cold fries, dirty glasses, irritated hostess and slow service when there were very few customers in the place. Comped our meals, which we didn't eat, but I'll never go back again.

Had lunch here today with a friend. We both had the soup and salad ; good, just give me a little more salad, please. Attentive server and the manager stopped by our table; I'm guessing this will become more common as restaurants struggle to keep folks coming in. It was pretty crowded by the time we headed out the door. I'd go back if invited.

I wouldn't normally review an Applebee's but this place hit all the marks. We ate here a few weeks ago and they weren't very busy but I noticed a few things that made me feel really good about eating here: 1. Our server was very attentive and friendly (which I always appreciate). 2. The manager was checking on tables and when she noticed that my husband's drink was empty she offered to fill it, when he told her that our server was already on it, she was genuinely happy to know that her staff was one step ahead of her. But it was SO nice to see that the manager was not only checking on people but also working tables to prevent people from getting antsy. 3. The food was actually really good and tasted freshly prepared which is sometimes a rarity in these chain restaurants.

Quick service. 15 minute wait on frisat night at 7pm. Great waitstaff attentive. Seatbelt in highchair is broken but they always are, everywhere. Food was better than I expected.

Poor hostess staff, 15-20 min line with enogh open tables to sit everyone who was waiting. No bussers. Nearby table was used to stack dirty dishes. Waitress never asked if we needed refill on endless soup and salad. Manager was no where to be found. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK

The rivets are okay again. There was a lot of bbq sauce. The chicken basket was dried. The blondie was good but should be warmer.

Well I am sad to see the Applebee's struggle is not contained to my home neighborhood. To begin our group of five was seated at a bar top table allowing me to watch the bartender unknowingly move her scarf across surfaces, over the ice she'd scoop into drinks etc. The place was busy on a Saturday leading me to hope that meant the food would actually be of the quality the chain touts on their commercials. We ordered the queso appetizer and it was fairly good. And thankfully there where enough chips to share, because our meal orders did not arrive for a long time. Other tables seemed to be getting their meals, so what was up? No explanation was offered other than jokes that we must be starving. Unfortunately when the food did arrive, it was clear they let his chicken and potatoes sit and char on the sizzling plate, while my shrimp and broccoli cavatapi pasta got cold. And neither was very good or filling. While our server was kind throughout our time there and this is a casual restaurant, it was awkward to have to request she clear away plates and glasses from a table already crowded by a condiment contraption, too many laminated menue things, and one of those absurd touch screen devices (I'd rather talk to a human server and my table mates rather than click to order and pay to play games, thank you). I just don't know how Applebee's will remain the neighborhood bar and grill they project without remodeling more than the building especially attitudes regarding food quality and overall experience.

Had a late dinner here for my son's birthday. I figured at 9:30 on a Sunday evening they wouldn't be very busy and we wouldn't have much of a wait. Well, they weren't very busy and we were seated right away, our order taken in a timely manner. However, it took 10-15 minutes to get our appetizer (spinach & artichoke dip) and another 10-15 minutes after that to get our entrees. I had the chicken tenders basket. The food was hot, but I can stay home and have Tyson chicken tenders. I'm not even sure these were THAT good. The fries were okay, but there weren't many of them. Seems, though, that their fries used to be a lot better. It just now occurred to me - I'm pretty sure my meal was supposed to come with coleslaw, which it did not. My son, daughter, and husband all enjoyed their meals: Bourbon Street steak, 3 cheese & chicken penne, clubhouse grill. Service was good, our waitress very friendly and checked on us often. This place is just notoriously slow, to me, anyway, and it doesn't matter when I go. It's been that way for YEARS. Not likely to return anytime soon.

Both of our chicken dishes were very over cooked and dry. Flavorful but dry. We also ordered the spicy chilli cheese nachos and there was hardly any chilli under the huge mound of lettuce and chips, unsatisfactory to say the least. The fiesta chopped chicken salad was all right but not as good as there old sante fe salad.

Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
